Tuesday Shout Outs

Hey Bloggers,
I see some great things happening both in terms of team work and writing. Here are a few of the many things I've seen so far.

WRITING
  • Improvement in posts AFTER editing with parnters yesterday!
  • Some use of details and adjectives bringing the writing alive
  • Reflective thinking. Including ideas from your classes.
TEAM WORK
  • Talking to each other to get ideas to get started, develop ideas, and edit.
  • Using each other as a network of resources
  • Focusing on each other's strengths
SHOUT OUTS (These are only a few.)
  • Cheridy's pick of the day:  Eddaliz in group 3

  • Other shout outs discussion...
Happy blogging!

Tuesday Post Possibilities

Here are some ideas for blog posts:
  • Finish any unpublished ones from Mon.
  • Use your journal from class. Choose an entry or two and put it on the blog. (Make sure it is something you are comfortable sharing with your audience.)
  • Write about a topic from class: developing relationships, understanding potential, communication, leadership, choices, goal setting, problem solving, team work, and leadership.
  • Activities: Campus Tour, Kickball, Getting up at 5:30 to run, Challenge Course, Bowling, Bridge of Knowledge, and Dodgeball, blogging.
  • Applying what you are learning: What are some ways that you can take what you have been learning back to your school and apply them?
Don't forget to edit it with a partner. (Read it out loud.)
  • Does it have your name in the title and does it describe the post's content?
  • Do all of your sentences begin with a capital letter and end with punctuation?
  • Is your "I" capitalized? It doesn't want to be a small i. Don't hurt it's feelings.
  • Is everything spelled correctly? (You can use the spell checker.)
  • Can you or your partner think of any details or descriptive adjectives/adverbs that can make it more interesting?
Happy blogging!

Tuesday Posts and the Writing Process

You're going pro with your blogging skills! Today's your day to choose your own topics. (See the post above this for some possibiliites.) After you finish a post, edit with a partner in your group and discuss what you will post about next.
This walks us thru a "quick" version of the writing proces:

  • choosing topic
  • writing
  • editing
  • publishing!
At each point in the process, it's a good idea to talk about and share our writing with others!
Happy blogging!

Monday Posts

You do not have to answer these in order. They are ideas to get you started. Talk to a partner first. Remember to describe and develop your answers.

Post #1 Challenge Course: Describe your experience at the challenge course. What were your goals? Did you accomplish them? How did you feel before, during, and after the experience? What did you learn?

Possible starters:
  • When I first got at the challenge course, I felt... because
  • During the challenge course, I felt .... because
  • After the challenge course, I felt.... because
  • I learned..... about myself from this experience.

Post #2: What did you learn about yourself today? What did you learn about your potential? Explain. How will you use this knowledge to make yourself a stronger leader?

Post #3: What was the most fun thing you did and why? How did you feel about yourself?

Monday: Edit Sunday's Posts and Plan with Group

OMLI rocks. Say it with me... You did an awesome job on your first posts. Every writer knows that writing requires some rewriting. It's fun stuff!
Before you blog about your activities on Monday, do the following: (5 min)

  • Look at your post and edit it with a parnter.
    • Can you suggest a way for your partner to develop his/her ideas or to add details?
  • Talk to your group about your plan.
    • Are you all working on using similar labels?
    • Are you using the same font? or colors? etc.

Happy blogging!
